Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor, producer and director. Her work has been recognized for movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. The film Piano was awarded an Oscar. Her career began as an actor on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. The actress has had a passion for acting ever since when she was in the high school. Her debut role in a show in the fifth grade was Helen Keller. The mumps caused her to lose her hearing in one of her ear, however this did not stop her from following her dreams. While in college, she took classes in theatre and later moved from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dream. Hunter was trapped in an elevator with playwright Beth Henley when she met her. Together they created Broadway Crimes of the Heart in which Hunter made her Broadway debut. Her first role in film came after she relocated to Los Angeles. She has since appeared in a variety of shows and TV films in a long career that spans over three decades. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
